Yeah! I managed to fit in painting my Burnt Sienna ground on my new canvas. I apply a very thin layer of Burnt Sienna diluted heavily with mineral spirits with a soft brush. Then I use a clean soft terry cloth to rub it all in and remove any excess. I’ll give it a couple days to dry completely. Then it will be ready for me to begin my first thick layer of my underpainting.

After taking part of the summer off for some web development, I’m heading back to my studio. Although half time…but better than NO time. I’m getting ready to finish up a few paintings and then start a new painting. Here are a couple pictures of the new canvas I built just over a week ago. Before and after gessoing. This new canvas is 5ft x 3ft (approx).
I’m glad to be back in the studio. It’s a mess but I survived. This is the longest I’ve gone without steady painting in a VERY long time. It’s been a long but worthwhile break.

Now here is the prepared canvas. I finished that yesterday. Today I sanded it and now its ready for me to paint the ground tomorrow.
